This week's top story was, Burger King debuts 3 Whopper Melts systemwide. The Miami-based division of Restaurant Brands International Inc. said the Whopper Melts, tested earlier this year in the Toledo, Ohio, market, are being offered in three varieties: Whopper Melt, Spicy Whopper Melt and Spicy Whopper Melt.

In other news, Taco Bell Nacho Fries are back and caught in a time loop. As is tradition for the Irvine, Calif.-based chain, Nacho Fries are being promoted with a faux movie trailer. This year, Taco Bell crowd-sourced ideas for the trailer on Twitter via the hashtag #FriesChallenge, which prompted the time loop story line.

Also, A tech startup selling a device to fix McDonald’s perennially broken ice creams earlier this month filed a lawsuit seeking a reported $900 million in damages, charging the quick-service chain with business interference, false advertising, deceptive trade practices and trade libel.
