DUBLIN Ohio Wendy’s International Inc. said Wednesday that it is now offering its popular Frosty treat with mix-ins.

Nearly 4,500 Wendy’s restaurants are serving the Twisted Frosty, which can be made with either M&Ms or Oreo cookie pieces mixed in.

The Frosty, a cross between a milk shake and soft-serve ice cream, was one of five original items on the menu when Dave Thomas founded Wendy’s in 1969. The treat was offered only in chocolate until last year, when Wendy’s introduced a vanilla variety.

Earlier this year, the chain also added Frosty Floats — a Frosty mixed with root beer or other sodas — in some markets.

Wendy’s International, based here, operates or franchises more than 6,700 Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers units worldwide.
