MINNEAPOLIS The Women’s Foodservice Forum named Dallas resident Alice Murray, an executive with nonprofit and for-profit experience, as its new president.

Murray, who begins the new position at Minneapolis-based WFF on Aug. 1, most recently served as president and chief executive of Downtown Dallas Inc., a nonprofit agency charged with revitalizing and restructuring the city’s urban area. Her experience in leading the development of several large upscale hotels helped her garner an understanding of the foodservice industry, a statement released Wednesday by the WFF said.

“I’m inspired by WFF’s strong membership and dedicated volunteers working together to achieve gender parity on senior teams,” Murray said.

Former WFF chairwoman Linda Pharr had been serving as the organization’s interim president since Mary Bentley resigned last year after two years at the helm.

The WFF is a non-profit organization with more than 3,000 members that supports leadership development of women in the foodservice industry.
