MIAMI Management of AmericanAirlines Arena here - home of the Miami Heat professional basketball team - recently consolidated all point-of-sale-system technology around Micros Systems' 9700 HMS line and the vendor's WS4 POS terminals and Mobile Micros hand-held terminals.

"Our previous configuration had become a challenge to effectively manage," according to Tony Coba, senior vice president and chief information officer for The Miami Heat. "As a result of our internal process review, it became clear to us that migrating to a single unified platform would improve customer service; reduce operating costs; simplify staff training and enhance our data mining efforts."
