Justin Keenen, director of information technology at Tocaya Organica parent The Madera Group, never thought he’d ever deploy QR codes to the public.
“I thought they were tacky and clunky and were too techie for the layperson,” Keenen said during a recent interview with Nation’s Restaurant News.
But during the coronavirus pandemic, QR codes — as previously stated in this column — are seeing a resurgence. Restaurants are using them to give customers a contactless way to view digital menus and pay for meals to help stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Tocaya, an emerging fast-casual brand based in California, is taking QR codes to the next level.
