JACKSONVILLE Fla. Firehouse Subs hasn’t added an item to its menu in nearly 10 years, but this Memorial Day, the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket sub, which was a limited-time-offer, takes a permanent spot.

The sandwich features brisket and melted cheddar cheese piled atop a toasted sub roll. The topping is Sweet Baby Ray's Gourmet BBQ sauce. The average price of the brisket sub is $5.79 for a medium and $7.94 for a large, said the 366-unit Firehouse Subs.

“We don't mess around when it comes to our menu, and, after many rounds of testing different combinations, we feel that nothing comes close to the taste of our smokehouse brisket,” said Robin Sorensen, co-founder of Firehouse Subs. “We are big fans of barbecue in general and wanted to find a way to incorporate that love into one of our subs.”

Firehouse Subs was founded in Jacksonville, Fla., by former firefighting brothers Robin and Chris Sorensen.
