DALLAS Pollo Campero, the 49-unit Latin American chicken chain, will give away free fried and grilled chicken sandwiches on April 2 as it debuts its new sandwich line.

The new sandwiches feature Pollo Campero’s citrus-infused grilled chicken or fried chicken on toasted bread. The recommended retail price for the fried chicken sandwich is $3.09, and for the grilled or fried deluxe chicken sandwich it is $3.49. Prices may vary depending on the franchisee.

Free sandwiches will be available at participating stores in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C., and will be limited to one per person.

“The launch of our sandwich line is an exciting event for us because it exemplifies the integration of our authentic Latin American brand into American culture,” said Roberto Denegri, president and chief operating officer of Campero USA, which is the Dallas-based arm of the 300-unit Guatemala-based fast-casual chain.

Todd Deckert, Campero USA director of sales and marketing, added, “In these tough economic times, we could think of no better way to help out than to provide a free sandwich to anyone who asks.”
