MILFORD Conn. Subway today said it has cut the price of its foot-long subs to $5 nationwide as a limited-time promotion. The discount computes to a price rollback of up to 25 percent, according to Doctors Associates Inc., franchisor of the 28,000-unit chain.

The promotion, which debuted in most of the chain on March 24, has been offered in some locations for several weeks and in a few test markets for some months, according to the company. Spokesman Kevin Kane said the promotion would last for about seven weeks, or until roughly mid-May.

Afoot-long sub sandwich usually retails at Subway for about $6.50.
