The chicken segment is booming, and here Nation’s Restaurant News ranks the top 10 chicken chains by systemwide sales in the latest year ending in December 2018.

Chick-fil-A’s massive growth in the latest year — of 17% — makes the brand stands out from the pack. In fact, the chicken chain is now the third largest restaurant chain overall in the United States.

It’s been a busy year for chicken news, with chicken sandwich war between two of the chains listed and another experimenting in vegetarian chicken.

All data is from Nation’s Restaurant News’ research and its Top 200 database.
