CARPINTERIA Calif. CKE Restaurants Inc. has promoted Noah Griggs to executive vice president of training for its Carl's Jr. and Hardee's quick-service burger chains.

His former duties as executive vice president of operations for Hardee's have been split between two people. Bob Starke has moved up to executive vice president of operations for company-run Hardee's units, from senior vice president. Steve Evans has been named senior vice president of operations, with responsibility for franchised stores.

In announcing Griggs' promotion, CKE said he would be given the specific mission of creating and updating the regional burger chains' education, operations-training and leadership-development programs. Together, the brands encompass 2,993 restaurants.

CKE, based here, also operates or franchises 96 La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grills.
