Three months after struggling casual-dining chain TGI Fridays filed for bankruptcy, the company has now seemingly begun to close more locations on Long Island, New York; in Las Vegas; and in Pennsylvania. TGI Fridays now lists 125 open domestic locations, down from 164 units last October following an earlier round of closures.

According to local news reports, TGI Fridays has closed half of its remaining stores on Long Island, leaving the chain with just two Long Island locations left (in Central Islip and Valley Stream). Google listings for the shuttered locations are listed as “temporarily closed” and “permanently closed,” respectively. Other Long Island locations shuttered in late 2024, according to the Long Island Press.

In Las Vegas, four TGI Fridays locations in the Orleans, Sam's Town, Aliante, and Gold Coast casinos have allegedly shuttered. All four of these locations — now listed as “permanently closed” on Google —were operated by Boyd Gaming Hospitality company. Nation’s Restaurant News reached out to Boyd Gaming but did not receive a response in time for publication.

Multiple TGI Fridays locations have also started to close up shop in Pennsylvania, with only six locations remaining in the state (in Williamsport, Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Gettysburg, Bethlehem, and Quakertown) according to TGI Fridays’ website, with both the York and Harrisburg locations listed by Google as permanently closed.

In the past several years since the COVID-19 pandemic, TGI Fridays has been through many challenges. The company attempted a brand revitalization in partnership with C3’s virtual brand, and went through three CEOs over the course of several months in 2023.

Last January, TGI Fridays shuttered 36 locations and agreed to sell eight corporate restaurants to former CEO Ray Blanchette. Then, in October the company’s U.K.-based master franchisee, Hostmore, filed for administration (the U.K. equivalent of bankruptcy) and put its 87 stores up for sale after its reverse takeover plan of the entire TGI Fridays system failed.

In November 2024, just days after closing 50 more stores, TGI Fridays filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Last month,  Blanchette returned to the company, and has now taken over management of TGI Fridays’ remaining restaurants, as the company works through its bankruptcy case.

TGI Fridays did not return request for comment on these latest store closures.
