WINSTON-SALEM N.C. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts said Monday it has rolled out a line of mini doughnuts that are about half the size of its traditional treats.

The 520-unit chain said the mini doughnuts are available at participating stores in three varieties: original glazed, chocolate glazed rings and chocolate glazed rings with sprinkles. A box of 20 mini doughnuts is priced at $6.99, a spokeswoman said.

“Our new mini doughnuts are small and irresistible,” said Ron Rupocinski, Krispy Kreme’s executive chef. “These affordable and adorable one-of-a-kind doughnuts make the perfect little indulgence at any party.”

To promote the mini doughnuts, Krispy Kreme launched a sweepstakes on Monday that will award a new Mini Cooper car to a grand-prize winner. The contest runs through May 31, and a winner will be chosen June 15.
