Lentz named executive chef at Chicago's McCormick Place

CHICAGO Hans Lentz has been named executive chef of the McCormick Place convention center here, with responsibility for all menu preparation and selection for the 2.6-million-square-foot facility.

Lentz began his formal culinary education in his hometown of Cologne, Germany, at the Handelsschule Perlengraben culinary school and then worked in that city under his mentor, chef Michael Floss.

After working in hotels overseas for many years, he arrived in the United States to be executive sous chef at the InterContinental Miami. He moved to Chicago in 2005 to be executive chef of the InterContinental Chicago, where he worked until his recent move to McCormick Place.

Lentz expects to have a new catering menu featuring more healthful and seasonal-based offerings in place by next spring, according to McCormick Place.
