Beef was not the cause of McDonald’s E. Coli outbreak. Colorado regulators said over the weekend that tests conducted on fresh and frozen beef from the chain’s restaurants tested negative for the pathogen. The company believes onions to be the cause of the outbreak, which has sickened at least 75 people in 13 states.
Some good news for the burger chain: McDonald’s franchisees should have an easier time getting their infamous ice-cream machines fixed. The U.S. Copyright Office just granted an exemption that allows third parties to repair commercial equipment, including those ice cream machines.
TGI Fridays closed about 50 more restaurants as the struggling chain appeared headed for bankruptcy. The chain’s website on Monday listed 164 U.S. locations, down from 215 earlier this month. Local media reports in New York, New Jersey, Ohio and California indicated TGI Fridays in the area had closed abruptly.
