KFC unveiled Wednesday two next-generation prototype stores designed with expanded safety features and off-premise order and pickup options that consider the long-term impact COVID-19 will have on consumer behaviors.
One prototype is an express store with no dining room. The standard design, which is about 1,800 square feet, includes outdoor seating dubbed the Colonel’s Porch, a smaller dining room and more options for contactless pick up of digital orders.
Customers and third-party delivery drivers fetching digital orders will have designated parking spots and their own entrance. Some stores might also have automatic doors and multiple drive-thru lanes with one lane dedicated for pickup of digital orders.
