Taco Bell’s beverage innovation continues with Limonada Freeze

The restaurant chain’s new lineup includes lemonade and strawberry lemonade flavors, as well as vanilla creme.

Much of the Taco Bell menu buzz right now is about its Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme, but the restaurant chain’s recent beverage innovations are certainly newsworthy as well. The company just launched a Limonada Freeze lineup, featuring lemonade and strawberry lemonade flavors, as well as a vanilla creme Limonada Freeze, featuring lemonade swirled with vanilla crème.

The lineup is available nationwide for $3.29 for a regular, 3.49 for a large (20 ounce), and $1 for a 16 ounce during Happier Hour.

The Limonada Freeze mark the chain’s latest beverage creation as more consumers demand such offerings. Earlier this year, the company began testing Agua Refrescas, a new line of beverages infused with fruit flavors, mixed with real fruit pieces and a green tea base. The company is also currently testing Churro Chillers in the Dallas and Chicago markets, with flavors including sweet vanilla, Mexican chocolate, Dulce de Leche coffee, and wild strawberry. They’re available for $4.19. Taco Bell also began testing cold brew options in 2022, while last year, it began testing Baja Blast Charged Berry and Mtn Dew Energy Baja Blast.

“We want to make our beverages just as iconic as our food,” Taco Bell CMO Taylor Montgomery said in a statement earlier this year.

Taco Bell’s latest test comes as the conversation surrounding specialty beverages picks up significantly, thanks in large part to McDonald’s launch of its new CosMc’s concept, as well as the staggering growth of concepts such as Dutch Bros, 7 Brew, Biggby’s, Scooter’s, and more. According to Technomic, the roughly 20 coffee chains occupying the data firm’s Top 500 for 2023 added nearly 1,400 cumulative locations last year, outpacing every other menu category. Coffee chains aren't alone in their meteoric growth. Other beverage concepts like Swig and Smoothie King also had a strong 2023.
