The month of September started off with a bang for the restaurant industry as Starbucks announced who its next CEO will be on the first day of the month. The former PepsiCo executive will begin this month, and officially take the reins in 2023.

Starbucks wasn’t the only chain to name a new chief executive last month; Bar Louie also did. Other companies, including Inspire Brands and MOD Pizza, had multiple executive appointments.

Donatos hired a former employee back as chief marketing officer, FB Society named a financial chief from Landry’s, and Velvet Taco named its first operations chief.

At smaller brands, a former Starbucks executive joined the board at emerging fast-casual chian RASA.
