Black Bear Diner Inc. has named Anita Adams chief financial officer, the company said Thursday.

The Redding, Calif.-based family-dining operator said Adams, who was most recently CFO of Nashville, Tenn.-based American Blue Ribbon Holdings, succeeds Robin Yoshimura, who has transitioned to chief franchise officer for the brand and remains on the executive leadership team.

“Our national expansion is moving swiftly and Anita’s leadership, experience and financial savvy will ensure we mitigate any financial risks as we continue down this exciting path,” said Bruce Dean, Black Bear Diner’s CEO, in a statement. “She is a key addition and asset to our Black Bear Diner family and we are thrilled to have her on board.”

As CFO, Adams is responsible for driving Black Bear Diner’s finances across operations and shared services.

“Black Bear Diner is a strong performer with a unique positioning in the family-dining segment,” Adams said in prepared remarks.

Black Bear was named a Next 20 restaurant concept in 2014, as part of Nation’s Restaurant News’ annual Top 200 census.

The company, which has both franchised and company-owned restaurants, said it has experienced positive same-store-sales in each of the last 24 quarters. From 2015 to 2016, the brand said systemwide sales increased 15.3 percent.

Black Bear Diner was founded in 1995, in Mt. Shasta, Calif., and has 93 locations in eight Western states.
