Del Frisco's Restaurant Group Inc. chief operating officer Jeff Carcara has resigned, effective immediately, the company said Friday.

Carcara, who had been COO at the Southlake, Texas-based casual-dining operator since November 2012, left “to pursue an executive leadership opportunity at a private restaurant company,” Del Frisco’s said in a statement.

“On behalf of the entire management team, I'd like to thank Jeff for his service and contributions over the past two and half years. We wish him the best of luck in his new position and future endeavors," said Mark S. Mednansky, Del Frisco’s CEO.

Carcara filled the COO post after it had been vacant for an extended period. Before Del Frisco’s, he was senior director of operations for Seasons 52, the Darden Restaurants Inc. specialty concept.

Earlier, Carcara served as corporate director of food and beverage for the Kessler Collection Hotels and worked at Houston's, part of the Hillstone Restaurant Group. He also worked at Darden's Bahama Breeze concept.

For the first quarter ended March 24, Del Frisco’s reported an increase in net income of 19.3 percent, to $5.4 million, or 23 cents per share, from $4.5 million, or 19 cents per share, the previous year. Revenue rose 12.7 percent, to $75.1 million, from $66.6 million the previous year.

First-quarter same-store sales increased 2.3 percent at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse and 4.8 percent at Sullivan’s Steakhouse. Same-store sales fell 3.5 percent at Del Frisco’s Grille.

Del Frisco's Restaurant Group has 47 restaurants in 20 states and Washington, D.C.
