Bankruptcy judge to decide Ignite case this week
Some Joe’s Crab Shack units have been closing over the past week as parent Ignite Restaurant Group Inc. awaits a judge’s scheduled ruling Thursday on its bankruptcy plan.
With Landry’s Inc. winning a bankruptcy court auction on Aug. 7 for the assets of Houston-based Ignite, parent to Joe’s Crab Shack and Brick House Tap Tavern, the company has been quietly shuttering some units.
One of four Joe’s Crab Shack units in the Orlando, Fla., market was closed as of Monday, the Orlando Sentinel reported. The restaurant was near Disney World, and its closure followed other reports from locales as varied as Hampton, Va., Independence, Mo., and Omaha, Neb. The Consumerist website has been updating a list of Joe’s Crab Shack closings.
