This week, Starbucks announced its latest external rewards partnership where Starbucks customers can earn Starbucks points by spending money at other companies, and vice versa. After announcing partnerships with Delta and Bank of America, Starbucks will now be working with Marriot Bonvoy so customers can earn points for both while traveling.

Customers need to be signed up for both the Starbucks Rewards program and have a Marriott Bonvoy account. They also need to link both accounts to be able to make use of this partnership. According to Starbucks, rewards members earn double points when they make Starbucks purchases during their stay at any Marriott Bonvoy hotels, and there will also be designated weeks throughout the year (with the first starting July 8), when customers will earn 100 Marriott Bonvoy points any time they make a Starbucks purchase.

“Marriott Bonvoy’s commitment to enriching moments for their customers aligns with Starbucks customer promise to uplift the everyday, making them the perfect loyalty partner,” Kyndra Russell, senior vice president, North America chief marketing officer, Starbucks, said in a statement. “We’re continuing to develop our Starbucks Rewards program, and through this new collaboration, we are excited to offer members even more value and enhanced benefits through travel experiences.”

Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan hinted that a third partnership would be coming to the new Starbucks Rewards partnership program back when the Bank of America collaboration was announced in January. These external partnerships are meant to expand the Starbucks customer base and encourage Starbucks customers to spend more as they earn more points. This strategy will likely come in handy as the company faces an uphill battle of dwindling traffic and sales numbers.

Starbucks and Marriott are celebrating their collaboration with a sweepstakes where customers can enter to win a trip to visit the Starbucks Reserve Roasteries in Seattle, Milan, and Tokyo, with a Marriott Bonvoy hotel stay and roundtrip airfare included.
