Chain shuttered six locations amid falling sales and profits
Famous Dave’s of America Inc. said this week that it recently closed six company-owned restaurants, as it takes “a more aggressive approach” in closing underperforming locations.
The Minneapolis-based barbecue chain, reeling from years of weak same-store sales at company locations, is in the process of either selling corporate restaurants to franchisees or closing them.
“We simply cannot sustain the corporate structure required to effectively manage both our company-owned and franchise operations,” Famous Dave’s CEO Mike Lister said during a second-quarter earnings call on Monday.
