The Halal Guys, the fast-casual New York brand, have partnered with Lafayette (LFYT) and Privilege New York for a streetwear collection set to debut in September. The collection will focus on The Halal Guys’ roots as a New York brand – it started as a street cart in 1990 before expanding in 2014 – and what the owners have witnessed being on the New York streets for over three decades.
“In every brand decision we make, we consider how to pay homage to our humble beginnings as a NYC street food cart,” said Ahmed Abouelenein, CEO of The Halal Guys and son of The Halal Guys’ co-founder, in a statement. “This apparel line was inspired by New York City fashion, pairing today’s streetwear trends with The Halal Guys’ iconography and we think fans will be excited about the collaboration.”
The brand, which has more than 80 units, partnered with LFYT, a Japanese brand inspired by the streetwear of New York City, and Privilege New York, a streetwear brand in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan.
“As a long-time fan of New York’s most famous street food, our team was thrilled to collaborate with The Halal Guys,” said Jun Kin, founder of LFYT. “Together, we’ve had the opportunity to combine our fans’ love for food + fashion and create a fresh way for them to express themselves. Working with their team and watching our visions come to life has been an honor.”
The line will include the following items: coach jacket, $120; hoodie, $120; long-sleeved tee, $50; short-sleeved tee, $40; Dad hat, $40; combo platter cushion, $40; keychain, $14; towel,
